COVID

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak started in China in December 2019, and was labeled a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. To date, over 13,300,000 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed and over 580,000 deaths have been reported in 188 countries/regions. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) continues to test for COVID-19. We have over 43,000 COVID-19 positive cases in our state and 1,518 deaths.
A significant number of deaths in the United States have been at long-term care facilities. This highlights the serious threat the diseases poses to the elderly and infirm. COVID-19 is currently believed to be spread from person-to-person through droplets in the air, very similar to how influenza spreads.
